OSHA fully intends to issue silica rule by end of Obama's term

OSHA is “determined” to finalize new regulations before the end of the Obama administration that lower exposure limits and put practices in place to control crystalline silica dust, agency chief David Michaels said. He told industrial hygienists that OSHA is working diligently to read through the rulemaking record so it can move toward issuing a final rule before the president leaves office, but didn’t offer a more specific timeframe.

Houzz raises $165M transform home renovation

New homes' problem: Price
The Wall Street Journal
The gap between the more expensive median price of newly built homes and that of resales has exceeded $70,000 for most of the economic recovery, the widest spread since the Commerce Department and the National Association of Realtors started tracking the figures in 1968. In September, it stood at roughly $49,000, though monthly numbers are volatile and subject to revision.

Home remodeling index hits all-time high

The National Association of Home Builders said that its Remodeling Market Index has reclaimed its all-time high of 57 in the third quarter of 2014 in yet another sign that the housing market recovery is on track. This marks the sixth quarter in a row that the RMI reading has remained above 50. A reading of at least 50 indicates that more remodelers report higher market activity compared to the previous quarter.
