CSEE Fall 2014 Module to feature crisis management expert Daniel Diermeier, Ph. D.

The next CSEE Module will be held at the Hilton Chicago on Monday, Sept. 22. The session will help establish a philosophy concerning crisis management. The session will help establish a philosophy concerning crisis management. The many factors leading to dealing with a crisis of any kind, including security issues, will be better appreciated. This session is open to all CSEE participants and professionals working sports events at all levels (NASC membership required to enroll in CSEE; registration fee required to attend). 130 sports tourism professionals are already registered, so be sure to register by Sept. 8!

Parks officials push for sports fieldhouse in Salina, Kansas

Salina, Kansas, ommunity members are pushing to get a new sports complex built to provide more recreation opportunities for residents. Salina's Recreation Commission is supporting a plan to build a $9 million fieldhouse that would have multi-use indoor courts and turf fields in the downtown area.

Iowa city selected to host USA Curling Arena National Championships

Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has been selected to host the 2015 USA Curling Arena National Championships next summer. This will mark the third time that the Arena Nationals, one of USA Curling's newer events, will be staged.

Watersports week joins other events for post-Labor Day tourism blitz
The Post and Courier
Charleston Watersports Week, created by the Charleston Area Sports Commission, will feature an array of competitive, recreational, instructive and leisurely activities on the water in the South Carolina city. The nearly 50 activities range from stand-up paddleboarding and dragon boat races to kayak and sunset sailing excursions.

Commissioners approve $1.3 million for North Carolina sports complex

North Carolina's Buncombe County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the donation of $1.3 million from the sale of a spec building to a sports complex in Enka. The proceeds from the property are slated to match $8.6 million in donated property and cash to develop the expansive complex on the old Enka/BASF plant site. The complex for the Enka Youth Sports Organization includes 90 acres of land that will be donated by Fletcher Partners.

Ohio county to host Big East cross country championships

Nine men's teams and 10 women's teams will compete in the Division I meet set for the Golf Center at Kings Island in Mason, the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau announced recently.

Parks & Recreation mobile unit something new for teens

New Mexico's Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department will unveil a new mobile recreation vehicle with the aim of reaching under-served teens. The vehicle, called the Teen Mobile Unit, will be outfitted with a sound system, sports equipment, games and possibly other items — depending on ideas city staff get from young residents, officials said. The vehicle will travel to various parks, neighborhoods and schools across the city to host events.
