NASC selects Oklahoma City charity as 2014 Sports Legacy Fund beneficiary

The National Association of Sports Commissions has selected the Oklahoma Cleats for Kids program as its Sports Legacy Fund beneficiary at next year's NASC Symposium in Oklahoma City, to be held March 31-April 3, 2014. The Sports Legacy Fund, originally developed by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission as an equipment donation program, is a way for members of the sports tourism community to make a personal and lasting impact on the lives of underprivileged youth sports programs throughout the country.

Big 12 baseball tournament coming to Oklahoma in 2015

The Big 12 Conference Baseball Tournament will move to ONEOK Field in Tulsa, Okla., in 2015, the league announced at ONEOK Field. The Big 12 has annually held its baseball tournament in Oklahoma City since the league's birth in 1997. The only exceptions were 2002 and 2004, when it was played in Arlington, Texas.

New cheerleading competition headed to Pennsylvania

The Erie, Penn., Sports Commission is pleased to announce that the inaugural Champion Cheer Central's "Splash into Spring" Lake Erie Cheer and Dance Championship will be held April 6, 2014 at the newly-renovated Erie Insurance Arena. Approximately 70-100 teams in six divisions are expected to participate in the event, which will attract more than 1,000 cheerleaders and dancers across Pennsylvania, New York and Ohio.

Minneapolis bids for 2017 college football playoff title game

The city of Minneapolis has submitted a bid to host the 2017 College Football Playoff championship game, with the hope of hosting that event in the new Vikings stadium. Minneapolis reportedly is one of six cities to submit a bid for the 2017 event, along with Jacksonville, Fla., Tampa, Fla., Miami, Fla., San Antonio, Texas, and Santa Clara, Calif. The winning bid is expected to be announced in November.

South Dakota to host 2015 USTA National Championship

It has been ten years since the United States Tumbling Associations National Championships were held in Rapid City, S.D., but the organization voted at their annual congress meetings in Bettendorf, Iowa to return to the Black Hills. Rapid City was awarded the 2015 USTA National Championships, edging out Charleston, W.Va., in a vote of the board members, member clubs and coaches within the organization.

Get a glimpse of vision for a California convention center expansion

Kansas City, Mo.,-based architectural design firm Populous delivered preliminary sketches for a possible expansion of the Sacramento, Calif., Convention Center that adds more meeting space in the tight footprint of downtown. Cincinnati finalist to host 2016 US Olympic marathon trials

Cincinnati is one of three finalists to host the 2016 U.S. Olympic marathon trials, officials have announced. Los Angeles and Houston are also in the running. The top three finishers in both the men's and women's races will represent the U.S. at the 2016 Summer Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Aug. 5-21, 2016.
