The National Association of Sports Commissions welcomes its Elite and Diamond level sponsors for its upcoming Sports Event Symposium, to be held April 27-30 at the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee. Elite level sponsors who have signed on for the Symposium include the host, VISIT Milwaukee, as well as the West Michigan Sports Commission.

The NASC Sports Legacy Committee is pleased to announce the selection of the Running Rebels Community Organization as the 2015 beneficiary. Since 1980, Running Rebels has been dedicated to developing Milwaukee's youth mentally, physically and spiritually. Dallas to host 2015 USA Weightlifting National Championships

The best weightlifters in the United States will head to Dallas next year, as USA Weightlifting and the Dallas Sports Commission announced today that the 2015 USA Weightlifting National Championships will take place Aug. 13-16 at the Dallas Hilton Anatole. The premier annual weightlifting event of the year in the United States, the USA Weightlifting National Championships will attract the top weightlifters in the country. Approximately 225 athletes and 150 coaches will participate in the event.

Alabama city gains reputation for baseball

The city of Montgomery, Alabama, has gained a reputation in recent years as the state's capital for amateur baseball events, including championship events in Alabama High School Athletic Association and Alabama Independent School Association tennis, softball and baseball, an all-star week in July and collegiate tennis in the early spring. The centerpiece of the city's sporting events is Riverwalk Stadium, home to the Montgomery Biscuits since 2004, constructed out of a former Western Railway warehouse and train facility.

Final 4 bid cities announced for 2017, 2018 CX National Championships
USA Cycling
USA Cycling announced the four finalists to host the 2017-18 Cyclo-cross National Championships, a list that has been narrowed from 11 applicants. Two of the final four cities will be awarded one-year championship contracts to host the 2017 and 2018 National Championships. Finalists are Bend, Oregon; Hartford, Connecticut; Louisville, Kentucky; and Reno, Nevada.

Sports Venue Regional meeting held
Tacoma South Sounds Sports Commission
Recently, Tacoma South Sound Sports Commission and Metro Parks Tacoma gathered together Pierce County regional stakeholders to discuss city/county plans for building new sports facilities or making improvements to existing venues. Officials from parks departments, public access facilities, private developers and opinion leaders from Tacoma, Pierce County, Lakewood, Puyallup, Sumner, Lacey and Gig Harbor met at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center to review what would be necessary for Pierce County venues to be positioned to attract large regional or national amateur sporting events to the area.

PA State Yo-Yo contest set

The PA State Yo-Yo Contest will be held in Erie, Pennsylvania, for the second time on Nov. 15, as it makes its debut at the Bayfront Convention Center. YoYoSam will sponsor the competition, which is expected to attract more than 50 top-level yo-yo competitors and several hundred spectators.

Tailgating goes above and beyond at the University of Mississippi

Perhaps there isn't a word for the ritualized pregame revelry on the University of Mississippi campus. "Tailgating" certainly does not do it justice. It might be a gathering of football fans before a game, but it hardly resembles those celebrated scenes in Green Bay and Kansas City, which are modest by comparison.
