Atlanta selected to host 2020 NCAA Division I Men's Final Four
Metro Atlanta Chamber
For the fifth time Atlanta will be called home to men's college basketball's penultimate event — the NCAA Final Four — but this will be the first time the new Atlanta stadium will play host. The NCAA awarded the 2020 Men’s Final Four to Atlanta. Previously, the Omni (1977) and the Georgia Dome (2002, 2007, 2013) were the host venues.

Columbus, Ohio, awarded 2018 NCAA Women's Final Four
Greater Columbus Sports Commission via NASC
Dallas and Columbus will play host to the Women's Final Four for the first time in women's basketball championship history. Games will be played March 31 and April 2, 2017, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, while Nationwide Arena in Columbus will serve as the site for the 2018 Women's Final Four on March 30 and April 1.

Youth sports long have been seen as a ticket to a college scholarship, and as college costs go ever higher, parents may be putting more pressure on their children to snag some of that cash. "It's become a win-at-all-costs culture," said Jason Sacks, executive director of the Positive Coaching Alliance, a Chicago-based national nonprofit organization founded at Stanford University to encourage positive coaching experiences for coaches, teachers and parents.

RB Thomas Jr., Executive Director of the International Senior Softball Association and Member of NASC was inducted in the International Softball Federation Hall of Fame in ceremonies at the 34th Annual ASA Hall of Fame Induction Banquet on Nov. 8, 2014 in Reno, Nevada. The veteran sports-event organizer was selected for the prestigious honor in the Administrator Category for his years of promoting programs and competitions for the Senior Division of the sport.

Corpus Christi, Texas, wins bid for 2018 ISAF World Youth Sailing Championships
Corpus Christi Convention & Visitors Bureau
The Corpus Christi Yacht Club, the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau and US Sailing are honored to announce that the 2018 ISAF World Youth Sailing Championships was awarded to the United States, and will be hosted by Corpus Christi Yacht Club in Corpus Christi, Texas. The 2018 ISAF World Youth Sailing Championships is the largest youth sailing event for Olympic hopefuls. More than 375 youth sailors ages 15 to 19, from around the world, will come to compete in nine Olympic training classes.

Youth sports are more emotional than ever, sports psychologist Jarrod Spencer says. Parents are going berserk in the bleachers of Little League games. Family dinners and vacations are obsolete because of year-round sports. Kids feel the stress at a young age to earn a sports scholarship to help pay for college. So it's understandable when student athletes don't act their best, Spencer said.

Crowdfunding effort aims to raise $20,000 for Detroit skate park

A study in which more than 43,000 children were evaluated for head trauma offers an unprecedented picture of how children most frequently suffer head injuries, report physicians. The findings also indicate how often such incidents result in significant brain injuries, computerized tomography scans to assess head injuries, and neurosurgery to treat them.

Youth sports to boost Pigeon Forge economy

The Tennessee city of Pigeon Forge is taking the next step in the tourism industry, by adding a $22.5 million attraction focused around youth sports. The city of Pigeon Forge has decided to partner with Ripken Baseball and fund the third Ripken Experience Complex. The facility will consist of six lighted synthetic turf fields, stadium style, and a two-story clubhouse.

Ice rink, water park touted for Illinois mall rescue

With a scheduled closing of Lincoln Mall approaching, a Matteson, Illinois, resident said he wants to convert the indoor mall into a "sports and entertainment campus." Ronnie Culver said he's one of five partners in a venture that has proposed an ambitious project to build an indoor-outdoor water park, hotel, ice rink, bowling alley and movie theater using all or portions of the existing mall.

Ex-MLB player Sheffield promises $3 million for youth baseball complex

Retired baseball star Gary Sheffield told Pasco, Florida, commissioners he would personally guarantee $3 million of his own money toward a youth baseball complex at Wiregrass Ranch if that's what it takes to get the financing in place for the $34 million project. Sheffield and his business partner, James Talton, have spent nearly all of 2014 trying to raise the $23 million to match the county's $11 million contribution.
