NCWA Poll Shows Contender Emerging

The Dec. 1, 2008 NCWA Ranking Poll this week seems to explore the possibility that a contender is emerging that could challenge defending champion Grand Valley State this year for the National Title. Navy Prep a strong finisher last year, seems to be eyeing the trophy this go round. With a strong DI recruiting class, the midshipmen could sneak up on the Lakers even though they seem to be short at 125 and 235. More

Delaware Pins Down a Victory in Conference Duals

The NCWA Northeast Conference Duals were hosted by Lafayette College on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008. The event featured 10 of the top teams in the NCWA Northeast Conference. The competition used a two pool format. The best records from each pool advanced to the finals, and the second best from each competed for third and forth places. The final four teams put on a great show for all in attendance. More

Another Solid Showing for Winona State Wrestling

The Winona State Wrestling Team went to its third tournament in as many weeks when they traveled to Minneapolis to compete in the Auggie-Brute-Addidas Open hosted by Augsburg University. Even with stiff competition coming from 20 NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA top teams such as Augsburg, Wartburg and Chadron State, the Wrestling Warriors fared pretty well on the day finishing with two 3rds in Chad Stenson, 157, and Aaron Murray, 149, and one 4th in Kristopher Hoffman, 184. On the day the team had an 8-8 overall record. More

Bigger and Better: Nebraska's Jordan Burroughs Ready to Make Run at NCAA Title

There is a photo on page two of the Nebraska media guide that was taken just after the conclusion of the 2008 NCAA Championships in St. Louis. In the picture, NU heavyweight Jon May is holding a trophy over his head while surrounded by happy teammates and coaches. Among those pictured is a smiling Jordan Burroughs. Burroughs capped a superb true sophomore season with a third-place national finish at 149 pounds. He led Nebraska to a fourth-place finish in the team race, marking the first time in 15 years the Huskers had won a trophy at the NCAA tournament. More

The Mavericks Tangle with the Oklahoma Sooners

The University of Texas/Arlington traveled to Norman to wrestle the Oklahoma Sooners second team, but due to OU injuries and the NCAA rules prohibiting those who are red shirting from wrestling in the dual, the competition consisted of just 5 matches. The Mavs dual preceded Oklahoma’s dual with Oklahoma City University. The Sooner victory against OCU was Coach Jack Spates, 200th career dual victory. More

Penn State Dominates Sprawl and Brawl

The Penn State Nittany Lion wrestling team pounded host Binghamton 36-8 in the final round of the 2008 Sprawl and Brawl Duals, going 3-0 on the day and improving its record to 3-2. The Nittany Lions used a total team effort, getting two pins, two technical falls and two majors as head coach Troy Sunderland's squad won eight of ten bouts. More

Lee Has Strong Performance at East Georgia College

The Lee Wrestling Team participated in the 2nd Annual East Georgia Bobcat Invitational Tournament this past weekend. Joe Jellison ,125, claimed his first championship title of the season defeating all three of his opponents in his weight class. More

Wrestlers File Herpes Lawsuit
