Demolition Projects Requested for New TV Series
UK television production company Middlechild Productions is currently working on a brand-new, exciting engineering television series called "The Demolition Man" (working title). The show follows their presenter traveling around the world meeting amazing demolition experts as they demolish various buildings, bridges, planes, trains and automobiles. This global show is hoping to feature the work of some of the finest demolition contractors around the world.

The show is a celebration of brilliant engineering and they want to showcase the best engineers and demolition companies. Robot removes asbestos during demolition

A robot with an appetite for asbestos is being used as part of the demolition of the former Pensacola (Florida) News Journal building at Romana and Jefferson streets to make way for Quint and Rishy Studer's $50 million, 269-unit apartment building. The robot uses high pressure water to blast off the layer of stucco on building facades. The asbestos is then vacuumed into a hose connected to the bottom of the robot.

L&I commissioner in Philadelphia allowed demolition without permits
The Philadelphia Inquirer
The commissioner of the Philadelphia Department of Licenses and Inspections intervened in the demolition of a Point Breeze building in 2014, allowing the structure to come down without required permits. In a complaint to the city Office of the Inspector General, an L&I inspector wrote that the contractor who did the demolition at 24th and Federal Streets got the go-ahead after telling Commissioner Carlton Williams in a private meeting that he was financially strapped and needed to start work to get paid.

Interior demolition authorized for first six floors of Starks Building in Louisville, Kentucky

The first step has been taken toward the redevelopment of the 14-story Starks Building in downtown Louisville. Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Government's Department of Codes and Regulations issued the first building permit late for the redevelopment, which is being undertaken by Delray Beach, Fla.-based Hudson Holdings Co. Hudson Holdings bought the property, at 455 S. Fourth St., from California-based Hertz Investment Group LLC for $14.25 million in April.

MGM Springfield nears final agreement on historic preservation issues relating to casino project
Springfield, Massacusetts — After years of discussions, debate and revisions, MGM Springfield appears to be on the verge of a final "memorandum of agreement" that dictates how it will address a gamut of historic preservation issues related to its $800 million casino project. After its third face-to-face consultation with the Massachusetts Historical Commission, MGM and the commission are working on the final formal agreement that will be submitted for approval to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

Apple Campus 2 sets new construction standards

Apple is closely involved in the day-to-day construction of its Campus 2 project and every decision must be vetted through the company, reports Business Insider. The site is shaped like an "O" and split into nine wedges, with Apple employees assigned to each specific geographic location to ensure design-build precision. The project costs an estimated $5 billion and will accommodate 12,000 employees.
