Two 2011 'Building of the Year' winners present their cutting-edge projects
How to Be Cutting Edge in Post Frame (602)
Friday, Feb. 22
On Friday, Feb. 22, two NFBA member contractors will present their techniques on how to produce a cutting-edge post-frame building. This breakout session, "How to be Cutting Edge in Post Frame," will be moderated by Greg Lehman, FBi Buildings.

Jason Blair, Morton Buildings, and Bill Murray, Fingerlakes Construction, will explain how their 2011 award-winning projects enhanced curb appeal, maximized design capabilities, expanded post-frame market share and offered their customers a cost-effective building solution.
Expo Express asked both contractors to define "cutting edge":
"A cutting-edge post-frame building is not just a roof with four walls. It's a structure that stands out and catches your eye because of the shine of painted steel, steep roof pitches and overhangs. Stone wainscot, turkey tails and cupolas can make anyone appreciate the aesthetic value that today's post-frame market has evolved into."

1st place winner in the 2011 "Building of the Year" Commercial (under 5,000 sq. ft.) category
"I would define a cutting-edge post-frame building as one that meets at least one of the following criteria:

- a building that leads the way into a new market that is not usually associated with post frame, and

Dan Nyberg, Sales Analysis and Training Manager, Morton Buildings, will present this demo, which will also include brief interviews with real NFBA members. These members will describe how NFBA membership has had a direct impact on their organizations' reputation, management practices, project integrity and subsequent growth. They will spotlight select NFBA member benefits such as Post-Frame Builder Accreditation, Code Resources, Business Lead Generation, Free Access to Technical and Safety Information and more.
Here's a sample of the presentation's introduction:
There are currently over 90,000 trade and professional associations in the United States. Guess how many of these 90,000+ associations represent — on a national scale — post-frame professionals? One. That's right. There is only one national association whose mission is to advance the post-frame industry and grow post frame business for its members. That association is, of course, the National Frame Building Association.
So, if you or your company are active in the post-frame industry in any capacity — be it designing the specs, supplying the nails, getting out there and constructing that building — NFBA is the association for you.
Be sure to attend this demo session on the trade show floor and stop by the NFBA Membership Booth (#439) to introduce yourself!
