The Natural Products Association (NPA) has met with more than half of freshman representatives and senators of the 114th Congress to educate them on industry issues and highlight the vast benefits of natural products, and will meet with more over the next month. Press New York AG about his legal authority on dietary supplements
Natural Products Association
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman continues to target dietary supplement retailers and manufacturers with no legal authority to do so, aiming to significantly reduce consumer choice and keep products out of the hands of more than half of American consumers. With the creation of his coalition of attorneys general, Schneiderman is looking to expand his efforts nationwide. It's time to tell him enough is enough. All manufacturers, retailers and consumers must come together to tell the attorney general we will not stand for these actions.

Urge your lawmaker to join the Dietary Supplement Caucus
Natural Products Association
NPA is asking industry members and consumers to encourage their representatives and senators to join the Dietary Supplement Caucus, a bipartisan and bicameral group of legislators who facilitate discussions among lawmakers about the benefits of dietary supplements and promote research into the health care savings provided by these products. The caucus provides wider congressional attention to the role dietary supplements play in preventive health and overall well-being. Take action now to urge your legislators to protect consumer access to dietary supplements and support the natural products industry.

Tell Congress organic means non-GMO
Natural Products Association
There are very few industry topics as hot right now as the debate surrounding what constitutes non-GMO, but one thing we can all agree on is that organic means non-GMO. The USDA has already defined organic farmers and processors as those that "do not use genetically modified ingredients". This is, at minimum, a standard the Natural Products Association wants to see included in any proposed legislation pertaining to GMO labeling on the national level. Tell your lawmaker to support the USDA's existing definition of organic as non-GMO in any pending legislation.

He claimed testing of dietary supplements purchased from these retailers revealed the products either didn't contain the botanical material listed on the label or contained extensive amounts of non-listed ingredients, such as rice, asparagus and common houseplants.

New Proposition 65 regulations being considered in California
Natural Products INSIDER
The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment recently proposed several new regulations aimed at providing more specific guidance to businesses regarding Proposition 65's warning requirements. Unfortunately, the proposed regulations, rather than clarifying and streamlining requirements, instead would result in greater confusion as to what constitutes compliance, increase burdens on companies, and ultimately provide yet additional avenues to litigation for private enforcers.
