Gold is likely to hit a new high with gold futures for December delivery expected to breach the June 21 high of $1,266.50 an ounce in the next two to three weeks. A proposed ordinance would allow the Shenandoah County Board of Supervisors in Virginia to limit the number of pawnshops in the county. Planning and Zoning Director Brandon Davis presented the proposal to the supervisors' Public Safety and Code Committee. The U.K.'s largest pawnbroker has reported a 70 percent increase in its half-year profits to £14.5 million. H&T Pawnbrokers said volumes at its Gold Bars outlets more than tripled.
