As coaches, we aim to train our players to be able to develop mastery of soccer's most used skills. When our players are faced with challenges or adversity, how they cope and continue to play on may be an important aspect we need to focus on at our practices. Ideally, we want our players to be prepared to deal with a bad call from an official, a physical play from an opponent, or a missed opportunity in front of the goal. More

Once again, US Club Soccer will have a significant presence at the 2013 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention, Jan. 16-19 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. Highlighting US Club Soccer's offerings are a field session by Director of US Club Soccer's id² Boys Program Gerry McKeown and NorCal Premier Soccer League President Benjamin Ziemer, as well as an introductory presentation on the NSCAA / US Club Soccer Director of Coaching Diploma Course. US launches study into youth sports concussions

The U.S. government launched a sweeping study of rising sports-related concussions among the youth, amid concerns that the injuries may have contributed to the suicides of professional football players. The Institute of Medicine, part of the National Academies of Science, will probe sports-related concussions in young people from elementary school through early adulthood. The study will include military personnel and their dependants, and review concussions and risk factors. More

When U.S. men's national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann revealed his 25-player January camp squad, there was a bit more excitement than usual for the annual camp that includes players on their breaks from MLS, German and Scandinavian leagues.
