Player growth through coaching course participation

On the second weekend of participation at the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma course, leaders were able to bring in youth soccer players from Storm Soccer Academy between the ages of 14 and 17 to allow the coaches to administer "training sessions." The growth and learning for the youth players participating was transformational in terms of learning about the coaching profession.

Positive Coaching Alliance
Coaches, parents, athletes and administrators involved in youth, high school and club soccer programs will benefit from PCADevZone.org. Positive Coaching Alliance, an NSCAA National Partner, launched the site to share its hundreds of free resources that help develop "Better Athletes, Better People." The searchable website filled with podcasts, video and printable materials provide bite-size, actionable advice, featuring such PCA National Advisory Board Members as Brandi Chastain, Rachel Buehler Van Hollebeke, Rick Davis, Joy Fawcett, Julie Foudy, Alexi Lalas, Claudio Reyna and Jerry Smith. The Athletics Department at Towson University is currently accepting applications for an assistant women's soccer coach to provide assistance to the women's soccer program in collaboration with the head coach. Provide skill instruction for student-athletes, including individual sessions, small groups and total team training capability, which will include use of instructional technology; develop contacts and relationships with pertinent club and high school team coaches.

US Youth Soccer ODP Girls Regional Teams compete in Costa Rica
US Youth Soccer
The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Girls Region I, Region II and Region III teams traveled to Costa Rica Feb. 13-18 to experience international play in a round-robin tournament. All US Youth Soccer ODP teams had the opportunity to compete against three Costa Rican First Division teams — Saprissa, Moravia and UCEM Alajuela — in the Rohrmoser Stadium in Pavas, San Jose. Manslaughter plea entered in soccer ref's death

A recreational soccer player in Michigan who was charged with punching a referee and killing him during a game has agreed to a plea deal with prosecutors. Bassel Saad will serve 8 to 15 years in prison as part of the deal and will plead either guilty or no contest to involuntary manslaughter, according to his lawyer, Cyril Hall.
