Deadline approaching to apply for the NSCAA's 30 Under 30 program

The NSCAA is seeking a special group of young coaches for the second cohort of 30 Under 30 program participants. The applications will be accepted starting Thursday, May 1 through Thursday, May 15. Launched in 2013, the 30 Under 30 program is a year-long education and mentorship opportunity for a select few up-and-comers who have made soccer coaching their career of choice. This program was created to support fledgling coaches and foster their growth at a crucial point in their vocation.

EXOS and Advanced Sports Technology courses added to Summer Symposium offerings

This July and August, coaches from all over the country will gather in Orlando, Florida to participate in educational and networking experiences at the 2014 Summer Symposium. The NSCAA added two new educational courses to the schedule for attendees to take advantage of: EXOS and AST.

NSCAA joins with LSA to bring coaching education to Louisiana

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America is again increasing its educational outreach through a partnership with the Louisiana Soccer Association. "The NSCAA is happy to partner with Louisiana Soccer Association. Through this partnership, our combined membership will benefit from both local coaching education opportunities and an array of other coaching resources between the two organizations," Ian Barker, NSCAA Director of Coaching Education, said.

There's nothing like the elated feeling your children get after winning a game they've practiced for day and night. But that good feeling can quickly dissipate when faced with bad sportsmanship. Youth sports are a great opportunity for kids to build self-esteem and learn the essentials of playing a game. But it's also an opportunity for parents and coaches to teach the importance of good sportsmanship. While parents cheer for their kids on the sidelines, it's also imperative for them to be positive role models and strong examples of what it means to be a good sport.

Jurgen Klinsmann reveals preliminary 30-man U.S. World Cup roster

Jurgen Klinsmann dropped veteran Eddie Johnson from the U.S. World Cup team, even before the start of training camp. In naming his provisional 30-man roster recently, Klinsmann said he made the "unpleasant" decision in part because Landon Donovan will be competing for a spot at forward, leaving even fewer opportunities up front. The U.S. coach will have to trim his final roster to 23 by June 2, and said he considered this decision one of his toughest choices.

US Youth Soccer common thread among U-20 WNT Training Camp attendees
US Youth Soccer
Congratulations to the 27 players that have been called to attend the upcoming Under-20 Women's National Team Camp — May 11-18 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California — in preparation for the 2014 FIFA Women's World Cup. In addition to being called in for the camp, each athlete also shares a common thread of participation in US Youth Soccer. The roster of 27 includes 23 players that have participated in the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program, the nation's original player identification program that has continued its tradition of elite competition and player development for more than 30 years.

Goodbye, Gene: Legendary coach Chyzowych passes away at 78

Long-time soccer coach Gene Chyzowych passed away on Saturday night. He was 78. Chyzowych, the brother of the late U.S. national coach Walter Chyzowych, died after a long illness with his family at his side. He forged a reputation as a highly successful boys high school soccer coach and girls high school volleyball coach.

NPL's New England Premier League welcomes girls division
US Club Soccer
The New England Premier League, part of US Club Soccer's National Premier Leagues platform, is welcoming a girls division into its competitive landscape beginning with the fall 2014 season. The girls division will be comprised of seven clubs from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. The additions provide geographically friendly schedules for the U-13 through U-18 age divisions with teams playing each other home and away. At the conclusion of the inaugural season, the team with the best record in each respective age group advances to the 2015 NPL Finals.
