Thirty named to the 2014-15 cohort of the 30 Under 30 program

More than 600 applicants vied for a position as the next great soccer coach, submitting their credentials for the NSCAA 30 Under 30 Program, and the Association announced the 15 men and 15 women who will participate in the 2014-15 cohort of the program. The program is designed to give the participants exposure to the NSCAA membership, and the opportunity to take advantage of educational offerings, such as courses, the Convention and the Summer Symposium.

Coaches' profiles from the 2014 European Soccer Experience

Twelve Ohio University students joined NSCAA members on the NSCAA European Soccer Experience to cover the World Cup in a way that has rarely been seen before. Throughout the 11-day trip, the students have been chronicling the experience through a variety of stories, videos and photos. Several of the attending coaches have been profiled as well.

The NPL Finals, slated for July 10-14 in Greensboro, North Carolina, represents the culmination of a year-long, league-based national championship. It features U-13 through U-18 elite boys and girls teams from all over the country. Less than a week later, the National Cup XIII Finals, set for July 18-21 in Greensboro, North Carolina, takes center stage as the final event of an extensive cup-based national championship series featuring U-13 through U-17 boys and girls. Experts: Soccer's many moves boost fitness skills

Young soccer players may never reach the dazzling athleticism on display at the World Cup in Brazil, but fitness experts say the sport cultivates such a variety of skills that playing it can underpin a lifetime of activity. From aerobic prowess to foot-eye coordination and the ability to turn on a dime, soccer hones the body so even a young baseball or tennis player can benefit from the sport, said Dr. Michael F. Bergeron, executive director of the National Youth Sports Health & Safety Institute, which advocates for health and safety in youth sports.

Youth sports 'spill over' to career success

Past participation in competitive team sports marks you as a winner in the competition for better jobs, a Cornell biodata analysis has determined. In a study of what current workers expect from potential new hires, "former student athletes are expected to possess relatively greater leadership ability, more self-confidence and heightened self-respect, compared to people who didn’t play a varsity high school sport," Kevin M. Kniffin, postdoctoral research associate in the Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, reports.
