id² National Selection team experiences soccer's best at 2014 Nike National Training Camp

The id² National Selection team, made up of 16 elite girls born in 1999 from all across the country, concluded the 2014 Nike National Training Camp, Aug. 3. The four-day event was highlighted by training sessions with U.S. Soccer staff, meeting Portland Thorns FC NWSL professional players, playing two games against older region select teams and generally getting the VIP treatment at the legendary Nike World Headquarters. This camp represented the final programming element of the id² Program cycle targeting girls born in 1999. Photos, videos, game recaps and more are available at the link below.

From 2001 through the middle of 2012, the number of U.S. troops killed in Afghanistan and Iraq was 6,614. However, did you know that 11,766 American women were killed as the result of domestic violence during that same time period? Victim advocates agree that public attitudes and awareness toward domestic violence are shifting. And, when the issue is back in the headlines — once again involving an athlete — some may wonder what are the lessons learned from these tragedies and how do we prevent incidents like these from repeating themselves? The answer may lie with coaches.

Sporting Club plans to build national soccer training center in Kansas
The Kansas City Star
Sporting Club CEO Robb Heineman says Kansas City is on its way to becoming the soccer capital of America. In conjunction with Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback and Wyandotte County officials, Heineman unveiled plans to construct a $75 million-plus National Training and Coaching Development Center that will serve as a home base for the U.S. Soccer Federation and its national teams.
