US, Canada hold high-level consultation on the Trans-Pacific Partnership

On Feb. 13, the United States and Canada held a senior-level bilateral consultation on Canada's interest in the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations. The meeting was co-chaired by John Melle, assistant U.S. trade representative for the Western Hemisphere, and by Kirsten Hillman, director general for trade negotiations at Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada. The meeting was the latest in a series of official bilateral consultations with Canada following the November 2011 announcement by Prime Minister Harper expressing Canada’s interest in joining the TPP negotiations.More
Certain faux suede bonded to faux fur pile fabric added to DR-CAFTA short supply list

The Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements has determined that certain faux suede bonded to faux fur pile fabric, as specified here, is not available in commercial quantities in a timely manner in the CAFTA-DR countries. The product will be added to the list in Annex 3.25 of the CAFTA-DR Agreement in unrestricted quantities.More

The National Textile Association has been approached by a manufacturer seeking sources for fabrics specified here. NOTE: The fabric will be used in an apparel program in the Dominican Republic-Central America Free Trade Agreement region, and requires fabric formed and finished in the DR-CAFTA region and otherwise compliant with DR-CAFTA rules of origin.More
