CBP announces 6 new Centers of Excellence and Expertise

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Deputy Commissioner David V. Aguilar announced the expansion of the Centers of Excellence and Expertise, which will create six new centers in 2013 for the agriculture and prepared products; apparel, footwear and textiles; base metals; consumer products and mass merchandising; industrial and manufacturing materials; and machinery industries.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has the announced recalled of unsafe children's pajamas made in Peru and Turkey.

AAFMA releases updated Restricted Substances List

The American Apparel and Footwear Association has released the 11th edition of their restricted substances list. This edition includes 13 additional chemicals that have been added to the REACH SVHC candidate list. It also includes several other administrative changes, as well as the addition of the lead labeling requirements of the Illinois Lead Poisoning Prevention Act.

Administration comments on MTBs

The Department of Commerce, which spearheads the administration's review of the bills submitted for consideration in the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill, has completed its review of the submitted bills and has provided comments to the committee.
