Report slams Ontario's 'outdated' system for tracking at-risk drivers
Global News
The Ontario government could have reduced the potential for catastrophic accidents involving drivers with medical problems if it had been more proactive in keeping tabs on at-risk drivers, watchdog Andre Marin said. His latest investigation found an "outdated" and confusing system for reporting and monitoring drivers with potentially unsafe medical conditions such as uncontrolled hypoglycemia, the ombudsman said.

Good transit policy still bad politics in Ontario
Toronto Star
We want more transit, but we don't want to pay for it. We want fewer cars on the road, but don't support measures to reduce their use. We want to continue using our cars, but don't want to pay the real cost of driving them. For all of these reasons, don't expect the new provincial budget to lay out an effective transportation funding plan that will ease gridlock in the GTHA. It wouldn't be politically prudent.

Celebrating a lifetime of bus travel
The Chronicle Herald
I've loved buses ever since I was a child, whether the sleek long-distance Greyhound coaches that carried me across the continent twice in my much-travelled 20s, or municipal buses all over the world, from tiny trolleys to massive double-deckers. In a wild Christmas blizzard along Highway 401 near Kingston in 1974, our bus went off the road and was stuck for five hours. The driver shared his stash of pretzels, cookies and coffee, and we sang carols to the accompaniment of a passenger's guitar.
