RV Enthusiasts Prefer Diesel to Gas Engines

According to a recent survey of more than 1,300 RVers by RVtravel.com,
56 percent of recreational vehicle enthusiasts would buy a
diesel-powered motorhome or tow vehicle if they were buying an RV
today. Forty-four percent would prefer a gasoline-powered vehicle. In a
similar survey on the Web site in January, 51 percent of the more than
2,400 participants reported they currently drove a gasoline-powered
motorhome or tow vehicle. More
Winnebago Swings to 1Q Loss as RV Sales Swoon

Motorhome producer Winnebago Industries Inc. reported it swung to a
fiscal first-quarter loss, saying customers continued to have
difficulty financing RV purchases while the troubled economy kept many
away from dealerships altogether. Chairman and Chief Executive Bob
Olson said the company expects sales to remain weak, especially during
the seasonally slow second quarter. The company is continuing to look
for ways to cut costs. More

remaining full-time employees after a dismal sales month, the
dealership's general manager said. "The times are very tough," Nick
Schafer said. "The corporation is certainly in trouble, there's no
