More jobs appear to be headed to Heart City, Ind. Startup company Vixen Composites LLC, a maker of composite panel products for the recreational vehicle and commercial trailer industries, has announced plans to locate its manufacturing headquarters in South Bend, Ind. The news comes on the heels of several other announcements of businesses planing to locate to Elkhart or Elkhart County.  More

Despite coming out of an extremely tough year, local RV dealers are hopeful sales will pick up this year. Signs that things are turning around have been evident at the 2010 Family RV Show at the MSU Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education, said Greg Dennis, owner of Dennis RV Center in Lansing and the show’s coordinator. "It's picking back up again," said Dennis, who overhauled his business to simply service RVs instead of selling them to combat the bad economy. More

Rocky Mountain National Park marks 95th birthday

As park officials and advocates begin to look ahead to its 2015 centennial, Rocky Mountain National Park turns 95 years old this week. On Jan. 26, 1915, President Woodrow Wilson signed legislation creating Rocky Mountain National Park, the second-to-last national park to be designated before the 1916 creation of the National Park Service. The creation of the park was the vision of Enos Mills, who first climbed Longs Peak in 1887 at age 15.  More


Vancouver RV site filling for Olympics, another sits empty

The Vancouver, British Columbia, park board says bookings for the RV sites at Jericho Beach are now close to 70 percent – but the Spanish Banks site is still sitting empty, according to News 1130, Vancouver. Both parks are being made available for temporary RV use during the Winter Olympics, which begin Feb. 12, in Vancouver. Commissioner Aaron Jasper says even though they haven’t been able to fill both locations with RVs, staff is still confident they will break even. But he says making money wasn’t the main goal. More
