As Sprint announced its first three LTE user devices, the company also confirmed that it will not release any more WiMAX devices. AT&T: US Congress, not the FCC, should set spectrum auction rules

In a challenge to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission's authority, AT&T said that Congress, not the FCC, should set the conditions for proposed auctions of airwave licenses. "In our experience, anytime a regulatory agency seeks unfettered discretion that is the best reason Congress should not give it to them," Jim Cicconi, AT&T's vice president of legislative affairs, wrote in a blog post. He accused the FCC of being "adamant about preserving and enhancing its own power" and warned that the agency risks sinking the "crucial legislation." The proposed law would authorize the FCC to auction spectrum that currently belong to television broadcasters.More
