USDGC qualifying update

USDGC Open Flight qualifying isn't just for the young guns. Pro grandmaster Jim Oates proved that when he lit up the courses with multiple 1050-rated rounds during the Memorial Championship (Feb. 29 – March 3) in Scottsdale, Ariz., and became the first grandmaster to earn an invite through the regional qualifiers.More

Carolina Clash warms the Worlds

In an early warm up for the World Championships in Charlotte, N.C., this July, Richard Wysocki bested current World Champ Nate Doss by one stroke at the Carolina Clash (March 24-25). Playing a selection of the July Worlds courses, all of the divisions were stacked with players wanting an early crack at the Charlotte courses.More

New Saginaw Township, Mich., disc golf course adds to sport's growing popularity

Disc golfers' Paradise comes to north county in Washington

Paradise Point State Park in La Center, Wash., now boasts a disc golf course. And it is thought to be the first such course in a state park in Washington. Recently, the 7-acre disc golf course was dedicated by players, park officials and a La Center couple who donated $5,000 to bring the 9-hole course to fruition.More

You may not personally know disc golf hall of famers Patti Kunkle (#283) and John David (#790) of Atlanta,but if you visit the International Disc Golf Center in Appling, Ga., you will see many wonderful things they are responsible for. Over the years, John and Patti have supported the IDGC with both work and gifts, from the beautiful wrought-iron archways at the first tee of each of the IDGC's three championship courses, to a collection of vintage discs and other memorabilia, to artwork for the IDGC walls.More

The AAA's First Flight 2012 took place in Joliet, Ill., at the High Park Disc Golf Course over the weekend of March 24 and 25. This PDGA sanctioned B-tier event had the pro open, pro masters, intermediate and novice divisions playing on Sunday and the women's divisions, advanced, recreational, all juniors and all am masters divisions playing on Saturday.More

New honor for Carly Lewis in Traverse City, Mich.

In honor of Carly Lewis – who was killed last summer, just days before her 17th birthday – her father, Todd Lewis, is funding the construction of an 18-hole disc golf course. Lewis tells The Ticker that the course, named Carly's Playground, will open this summer inside Holiday Hills' Mt. Holiday ski area in Michigan. He says it will be a considerable upgrade to a nine-hole course that originally occupied that location near East Grand Traverse Bay.More
