The Professional Disc Golf Association is pleased to announce the selection of Andrew F. Sweeton of Skillman, N.J., as the new PDGA Tour Manager. Andrew will replace current tour manager, David Gentry, who will be moving to another position within the association. The selection was made as a result of an extensive search, which began in December 2010 where 130 candidates from both inside disc sports and from other fields were considered for the position. More

The first event of the PDGA National Tour Elite Series has been completed and the Drive for the Championship presented by Vibram Disc Golf is officially under way. The current standings can be found at: www.pdga.com/national-tour. The 2011 points race looks like to be an exciting year as they had two players who won their first ever National Tour event. More

The players who have been invited to this year's Pro and Am Worlds have been calculated. To see if you have been invited please visit our World Championships page at www.pdga.com/world-championships. The invitation packages will be sent out this year via e-mail and will also be available at PDGA.com. Registration for both the Pro and Am Worlds will start on March 17. More

Have you ever been walking around Tyler State Park in Pennsylvania and wondered where the sound of clanging chains was coming from? Well, back in the woods, amid the trails and paths, athletes flock to enjoy one the best disc golf courses around. Disc golf is similar to traditional golf, but instead of a ball, you use a plastic disc to complete a hole. And instead of swinging a club, you’re throwing the disc into an elevated metal basket. Disc golf course opens at Black Mountain's Owen High in North Carolina

A new nature trail disc golf course at Owen High School in North Carolina aims to get teens outdoors and active. But it is also designed to be fun. "We made it so the hike was a game," said Jason Urroz, director of Kids in Parks. Kids in Parks is a partnership between the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation. The organization works to get kids outside. More

Air Zoo launches disc golf course naming contest

The Air Zoo is seeking a name for its disc golf course and asking visitors for their suggestions! Fans are welcome to submit their ideas by entering the museum's disc golf course naming contest. To enter, contestants must fill out and submit the naming contest form found on the Air Zoo's website at www.airzoo.org/discgolf. Entries will be judged on their creativity and suitability. Contestants must be at least 18-years-old. More

The Reno Disc Golf Association in Nevada is teaming up with the University of Nevada Reno women's ultimate Frisbee team for a two-man, blind (equipment-switch) scramble on March 19, at the Ranch, the disc golf course in behind the Reno Sports Complex in Rancho San Rafael Park. More

Though they faced a recent setback at city council, one of the leaders of Nelson's Disc Golf Society in British Columbia, Canada, says his group is still hoping to build a course above the local cemetery. At its last meeting the council looked at - then quickly pulled - a motion to grant the group a two-year lease for the land, because it isn't a formal society. More
