Big Y Foods — a regional supermarket known for its experimental approach to marketing — is offering a deal through Groupon, a first for large grocery stores. "For us, it's just a way to test another medium," Harry Kimball, director of database marketing for the Springfield, Mass.-based grocery chain, told Marketing Daily. "It's a way for us to get the message out, and tie it to our loyalty program. Location-based marketing platform Scvngr announced new brand partners in Subway, Sears and Swatch. For Subway, it marks the first national campaign with a geo-social player involving a formal agreement. Subway, based in Milford, Conn., is using the mobile platform to promote adding avocado to its menu options. For an effort running until July 12, the retail chain will reward 25 Scvngr players with two free tickets to the Hollywood premiere of upcoming Warner Bros. film, "The Green Lantern." In addition, other players will receive free tickets to see the flick in a local theater, as 1,200 total movie passes will be distributed. More

Leading the panel on Green Marketing will be Jeff Greenbaum, partner, Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz PC; Gabriel T. Martinez, advertising counsel, The Clorox Company; and Wendy S. Reed, partner, Heenan Blaikie LLP.
