MediaPost Communications

Convenience-store shoppers aren't just pressed for time, they're hungry. And a new analysis from NPD Group's Convenience Store Monitor says that in the third quarter of last year, more than half of those purchasing freshly prepared food at a convenience chose the store just for that food — up a point from the same measure a year ago. "The reality is that the convenience retail channel does continue to capture share from more traditional fast-food outlets,"
David Portalatin, an NPD analyst, tells Marketing Daily.
