Target signs 180-store power purchase agreement with Greenskies
Green Retail Decisions
Target Corp. has signed an agreement with Greenskies Renewable Energy LLC to install solar arrays on the rooftops of 180 stores and distribution centers that stretch across the country. When completed, the 180 solar installations will produce an aggregate total of approximately 100 megawatts of electric energy. Though the size of the solar array will vary at each retail locations, the average system will consist of 1,700 solar panels.

Ikea to expand renewable energy portfolio with fuel cells

Home furnishings retailer Ikea plans to install a fuel cell system manufactured by Bloom Energy at its location in Emeryville, California, one of its two San Francisco-area stores. This is the first Ikea endeavor globally to convert biogas into electricity through a clean electro-chemical process. The fuel cell system will be installed, commissioned and activated by this summer 2015, the retailer said in a statement.

Sears to set up REIT to raise $2.5 billion from shareholders
Reuters
Sears Holdings Corp plans to raise more than $2.5 billion from shareholders by offering rights to buy shares in a real estate investment trust that will hold some of its stores. The REIT is the latest in a series of steps Chief Executive Eddie Lampert has taken to shore up the finances of the retailer, which has posted losses for nearly three years.

RadioShack sale approved, keeping hundreds of stores open

The judge overseeing RadioShack Corp.'s bankruptcy said he will approve the sale of about 1,700 stores to the chain's biggest shareholder. The decision ensures the survival of the 94-year-old electronics retailer, for now, and saves thousands of jobs that might have been lost if the stores were liquidated.
