CEO: Sprouts may expand beyond 1,200 stores
Bloomberg
Sprouts Farmers Market Inc., the natural-foods retailer that went public last year, may exceed its goal of opening 1,200 U.S. stores in the next decade and a half, the chain's chief executive officer said. "That was the low end, the most conservative estimate," CEO Doug Sanders said in an interview at an Atlanta-area store that opens tomorrow, part of its growth in the Southeast. "We're able to appeal to a much broader customer."

Safety relief valves: Avoiding horror stories
FacilitiesNet
Maintenance and engineering managers know mechanical rooms in institutional and commercial facilities are not scary at all and that, in fact, they are essential to facility operations and the organization's mission. The equipment produces and circulates heated or cooled air, and it pumps and distributes the necessary gases and fluids to where facilities need them. For the benefit of facility operations and occupants and the general public, it is paramount that managers implement proper safety procedures and that front-line technicians comply with them at all times.

AFP via The Taipei Times
Many of the details of Uniqlo's aggressive U.S. expansion still need to be worked out, but at least one thing is clear: The campaign will start on the coasts. What are retailers doing about the blurring lines between online and physical spaces?
Forbes
The blurring of the lines between online and physical spaces is forcing retailers to not just rethink but also reinvent their operating models. As mobile commerce comes of age, shoppers are no longer just going shopping episodically — they are always shopping. Problems arise when the customer experience does not keep up with the demands of increasingly demanding shoppers.

More regulations for cooling industry to accommodate
By Andrew Gaved
Readers outside of Europe may be forgiven for thinking that the European policymakers have got something against the cooling industry. Just look at all the legislation and standards-setting underway that are directed squarely at refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps. The F-gas regulation has enshrined stricter rules about refrigerants largely because of concern about the industry's ability to reduce direct emissions. But the next swath of important legislation — the Ecodesign directive — comes more from the European Commission's general desire to reduce energy across the continent.
