Retailers push to delay Obamacare

Retailers are pushing for changes to the Affordable Care Act that would redefine full-time employment and greatly change health care eligibility. The National Retail Federation appeared before a Congressional panel to raise concerns about the ACA (Obamacare). They cited confusion about the many regulations and looming deadline to comply as reasons to delay implementing the act, but emphasis was put on changing the act's definition of full- vs. part-time employees.

Walmart installs solar panels at 10 Maryland stores
Baltimore Business Journal
Walmart Stores Inc. has completed solar projects at eight stores and two Sam's Club locations across Maryland. The solar panels will supply between 5 percent to 20 percent of each store's overall electricity use. In all, the solar projects will generate 4.1 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually, enough to power nearly 370 homes.

Hudson Group debuts 19 new airport stores at preview of LAX's Tom Bradley International terminal

Last year Westfield Concessions Management, the Terminal Concessions Manager for LAX, selected a business venture comprised of Hudson Group and a group of local partners to build and operate 19 new shops in the newly renovated international terminal. The list of shops includes five travel essentials stores; 13 specialty retail stores, including luxury brands like Emporio Armani, Bulgari, Coach, Michael Kors, Hugo Boss, Tumi, Virgin/Boost and Bliss; along with local favorites such Fred Segal, Kitson, See's Candies and Pinkberry.

REI to open 2 new locations in spring 2014

Lululemon plans men's stores by 2016 in bid to maintain growth

Lululemon Athletica Inc., having won over millions of women with its high-priced yoga gear, wants to keep growth going by chasing men. The chain will start opening standalone men's stores by 2016, Chief Executive Officer Christine Day said in a presentation at a William Blair & Co. conference in Chicago. Her comments followed an announcement that she's retiring from the Vancouver-based company once the board finds a successor.

Brick-and-mortar retail sales soared during this past spring, according to new metrics from RetailNext.
