Target offered a behind-the-scenes look at its store design philosophy through the years on its website, "A Bullseye View." The blog stated that Target's current design, featuring bright lights, wide aisles and branded signage, stems from the Minnesota-based brand's heritage. Target, it says, "hopes you feel euphoric and comfortable and ready to shop" every time you walk through its doors.

J.C. Penney shares jump on report of push for permanent chief

William A. Ackman isn't happy with the status quo of J.C. Penney once more — and that has made other shareholders in the struggling department store chain fairly pleased. Shares of Penney were up about 6 percent in early afternoon trading on Thursday, after CNBC reported that Ackman has written a letter to his fellow board members urging them to speed up a search for a permanent chief executive. He suggested that the directors could find a new leader within 30 to 45 days.

CVS delivers strong Q2

CVS delivered strong second-quarter results and is moving forward with plans to leverage the upcoming changes under health reform. "We are very pleased with our strong operating results enterprise-wide in the second quarter. rue21 unveils 1st rueGuy stores

rue21, headquartered just outside of Pittsburgh, announced the debut of three new stores. These new stores are called rueGuy and are located in Bay Shore, N.Y.; Harlingen, Texas; and New Boston, Ohio.
