The Asheville Citizen-Times
The president of New England Development, the real estate company behind the Asheville Outlets, was interested in opening a retail center in Asheville, North Carolina, for a lot of the same reasons people move to Asheville. "It's just a great place," said Douglass Karp, president of the Massachusetts-based business. "We have friends who have spent time there or own homes there."

FacilitiesNet
Many institutional and commercial facilities have embraced the use of roof coatings to protect roofing systems, extend their performance lives and control energy costs by lowering rooftop temperatures. Online shopping is the future. So why do so many Web retailers want to be in stores?
The Washington Post
After three years as an e-commerce darling, BaubleBar and many other Web retailing pioneers have discovered the old school benefits of having a brick-and-mortar store. Rent The Runway, which rents designer clothes by the day, plans to open a standalone store in Manhattan, New York's Flatiron district in September. Products from Etsy, a dominant online marketplace for handicrafts and vintage goods, will soon be available in independent boutiques and some major chain stores such as Nordstrom. Birchbox, the subscription service that delivers beauty products to customers’ doorsteps, opened a brick-and-mortar flagship in New York in July.

Monitoring boiler feedwater cuts maintenance costs for power plants
By Alan Kelsky
Boilers make steam from feedwater, and most feedwater has impurities that accelerate corrosion in the boiler chamber — how much of any contaminant found in feedwater depends on the water source. Freshwater comes from many sources, such as lakes, rivers or wells. When water makes steam, its impurities are important for consideration.

Impact of big data and urban analytics on facility management
Facility Management Journal
Facility managers can better manage buildings taking into account big data (databases too large and complex to manipulate or query using standard methods or tools) and urban analytics (data-driven analysis of urban activity such as human and asset behavior, resource consumption, etc.).
