Ross Dress for Less to enter Wisconsin with 3 new stores

Kohl's testing cafes in stores to up shopper traffic

Kohl's chief merchandising and customer officer Michelle Gass came from Starbucks, but the idea of a cafe in a department store is hardly new. It's also not a bad idea. The discount department store retailer is making a lot of the right moves, with merchandise and a revamped beauty counter that are nods to what the customer wants. The problem is more that Target, Macy's, and a host of other off-price stores are also competing fiercely on the same field.

Costco readies expansion ahead of holidays

Microsoft set to unveil long-awaited flagship

World's largest green roof will cover recycled shopping mall

Sitting between Apple's Infinite Loop headquarters and the spaceship-like Apple Campus 2 in Cupertino, California is the failed Vallco Shopping Mall. Now architect Rafael Viñoly has unveiled a proposed $3 billion plan for Sand Hill Property Company that starts with renaming the property TheHills at Vallco. The ambitious project will transform the old shopping mall into a sustainable and walkable LEED Platinum mixed-use community and include the largest green roof in the world.

Over 157 million shoppers to spend $6.9 billion on Halloween

Over 157 million Americans will celebrate Halloween this year, with total consumer spending reaching $6.9 billion. The average consumer celebrating the festivities will spend $74.34 this year, down from 2014's $77.52, according to the National Retail Federation's Halloween Consumer Spending Survey.
