Macy's first international store will open in Abu Dhabi
FierceRetail
Macy's announced it would finally open its first non-U.S. store in Abu Dhabi. The 205,000-square-foot, four-level store at Al Maryah Central is under development, and will be accompanied by a Bloomingdale's, reported Women's Wear Daily. The 230,000-square-foot Bloomingdale's is the second overseas store by the retailer, the first opened in Dubai in 2010. The Abu Dhabi locations are planned to open in 2018 and will be operated under license by Al Tayer Group, which already operates the licensed Bloomingdale's store in Dubai.

Ebola-readiness advice for facility managers
Facilitiesnet
The Oct. 8 death of an Ebola patient at a Dallas hospital and the virus' infection of two nurses there challenged American confidence that, "It can't happen here" and "It's nothing I need to worry about." With reports of the disease making headlines, most of the focus has gone on healthcare facilities, yet facility managers responsible for other types of facilities may also be looking for guidance about what they can or should be doing — just in case. Facilitiesnet.com consulted facility experts and assembled, via email, some advice about the Ebola crisis for facility managers.

CNBC
News of the demise of the shopping mall has been all over the press lately. But despite the conviction with which some people are telling this tale, you're not getting the whole story. Automated restrooms … friend or foe?
Today's Facility Manager
From the facility professional's standpoint, automated restroom technology (in addition to elevating the facility's image) are designed to conserve resources by pre-determining the amount of water, hand soap, energy, or paper towels each person uses in those areas. Bricks-and-mortars aim to gain on Amazon pain
CNBC
Amazon, the golden child in an industry full of retailers duking it out for single-digit comparable sales growth, raised eyebrows with its disappointing sales guidance for the holiday season. The online giant is in many ways facing a different environment than it did last Christmas, as bricks-and-mortar stores continue to evolve their Web capabilities and chip away at Amazon's price advantage. Along with stiffer competition, Amazon is also vulnerable to the hesitant consumer who, despite a slew of economic tailwinds, is still reluctant to spend.
