Malls fill vacant stores with server rooms
The Wall Street Journal
The Internet is moving to a shopping center near you. In Fort Wayne, Indiana, a vacated Target store is about to be home to rows of computer servers, network routers and Ethernet cables courtesy of a local data-center operator. In Jackson, Mississippi, a former McRae's department store will get the same treatment next year. And one quadrant of the Marley Station Mall south of Baltimore is already occupied by a data-center company that last year offered to buy out the rest of the building.

Facility managers, salespeople and the Golden Rule of business
By Pamela Tresp
I've requested the permission of author Jeffrey Gitomer to share some important information that applies to facility managers, building owners and salespeople. These are things we have all thought or wanted to say, but many times haven't. After many years in sales (including some of the toughest territories like Manhattan), Gitomer compiled this list direct from customers on how they wish salespeople would act. How many of these can you relate to?

Retailers rally for Ebola relief
Forbes
Retailers often come to the aid of people or communities in need. After natural disasters, and even man-made ones, retailers are often quick to rally and offer help. After 911, Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Sandy, retailers and their vendors donated truckloads of goods and utilized existing transportation networks to get things there fast. In some cases, retailers were on site and offering assistance before federal authorities or relief workers.

Want a greener building? Let the sun shine in
Forbes
Green building design is nothing new for companies seeking to improve their sustainable business credentials, but more architects and interior designers are including elements of the natural world in their blueprints. This isn't just because it looks nice. Projects by early pioneers like Google and the General Services Administration demonstrate that this so-called biophilic design can improve employee performance.
