Walmart declares early Black Friday victory
Retailing Today
Even before its final round of deals kicked in at Walmart on Friday morning the retailer announced that sales had exceeded last year’s record-breaking results with 10 million transactions completed between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving. "We said Black Friday is the Super Bowl of retail, we ran a play that only Walmart could deliver and our customers loved it," Walmart U.S. president and CEO Bill Simon said in a press release distributed two hours before a new wave of in store special were set to take effect.

In the world of retail facilities maintenance the Energy Star certification program can help provide a positive jolt to a company’s bottom line. Matthew Bucksbaum, former General Growth CEO, dies at 87
Bloomberg
Matthew Bucksbaum, who influenced how Americans shop and invest in retail real estate as co-founder of General Growth Properties Inc., the second-biggest U.S. owner of shopping malls, has died. He was 87. He died on Nov. 24 of respiratory failure, according to a death notice on the website of Chicago Jewish Funerals, in Skokie, Ill.
