Why J.C. Penney will be the most interesting retailer of 2012
Forbes (Jan. 26, 2012)    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
J.C. Penney just blew up its brand — in a good way — thanks to a new management team with some radical new ideas. J.C. Penney is about to be the most interesting retail story of the year. Late last year, J.C. Penney began building a dream team with Ron Johnson — the man who launched Apple's retail stores — as its new CEO. Johnson cut his retail teeth at Target and from there he poached Michael Francis to serve as J.C. Penney's new president. Francis is largely responsible for Target's branding and marketing efforts. Toys 'R Us CEO: Why brick-and-mortar stores will trump online in end
MSNBC (Sept. 25, 2012)    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Even as more retail purchases are made online, it is the brick-and-mortar stores that will win out in the end, said Toys ’R Us Chairman Jerry Storch. "The world is evolving," Storch said during an interview with CNBC's Squawk Box. "The Internet is transformational, but it's not just the exclusive playground of Internet-only companies," he said. "In fact, it's the stores that are going to win in the end because of the physicality. Everything that's going on the Internet is about mobile and about physical, the ability to see what's going on in my neighborhood and act on it immediately." More

What does a facility manager manage?
Buildings (Nov. 5, 2012)    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The question is paradoxical in nature, because although the answer is simple and finite in one regard – i.e., "the facility" – it is actually vast and seemingly endless. As budgets continue to tighten, and with increasing regulations dictating decisions, it is helpful to analyze the wide-reaching responsibilities of facilities management teams. More

The Vancouver Sun (Jan. 24, 2012)    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Shopping online is growing at an astronomical rate in North America, but that doesn't mean the imminent death of traditional bricks-and-mortar stores, panelists told a conference on shopping centres in January.
