MedPAC: Medicare imaging spending drops 2.5 percent

The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission has confirmed the recent downward trend in Medicare spending and utilization on medical imaging procedures and said imaging services declined by 2.5 percent in 2010. The findings are consistent with an analysis of Medicare claims data commissioned by the Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance earlier this year.More

Senate offers 2-month doc fix; Boehner disapproves

The U.S. Senate approved legislation that averts Medicare reimbursement cuts for just two months rather than the two year "doc fix" contained in the version passed by the House. Along with the temporary pay freeze, the bill contains a two-month extension of a payroll tax break that's been the subject of intense negotiation on Capitol Hill. House Speaker John Boehner said he and other Republicans were opposed to the two-month deal. More
