Submit your application for the 2015 Quest Awards by Feb. 27
RBMA
The deadline to submit your application for your entry or entries is Friday, Feb. 27. The actual entry must be shipped to arrive by March 13 at the Loews New Orleans Hotel. Hand delivered submissions can be dropped off at the hotel by noon on Sunday, March 15.

The winners will be announced on March 17 during a lunch program at RBMA's Building Better Radiology Marketing Programs.

Flexible PQRS reporting requirements increase confusion
RBMA
To avoid a 2 percent penalty on Medicare payments starting in 2016, individual physicians or their medical groups must submit Physician Quality Reporting System 2014 data before their Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services submission deadlines.

Bundling of radiology codes into surgical codes continues

Not surprisingly, many of the 2015 changes to CPT codes made by the American Medical Association include the bundling of codes for imaging guidance — as well as radiological supervision and interpretation — into surgical codes. In addition to being aware of these and other code changes, radiologists and their staff must also go the extra mile to review the introductory notes at the start of certain sections of code documentation.

Feds to ease up on electronic health records program
The Hill
Federal regulators announced their intention to ease up on the meaningful use electronic health records program, one week after a coalition of 35 medical societies called for major changes. In a blog post, senior Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services official Patrick Conway said the agency is working on "multiple rulemaking tracks" to adjust the program based on provider feedback.

HHS plans accelerated shift to value-based reimbursement

In an announcement from the Department of Health and Human Services, Secretary Sylvia Burwell, made a significant announcement regarding Medicare's planned shift to value-based reimbursement in healthcare. Burwell noted that "for the first time, (HHS is) setting clear goals — and establishing a clear timeline — for moving from volume to value in Medicare payments."
