This Friday, Feb. 21, is a BIG day for Building Better Radiology Marketing Programs!
RBMA
The deadline to reserve your room at the discounted rate for Building Better Radiology Marketing Programs has been extended to this Friday.
RBMA has reserved a limited number of rooms at a special rate of $179 per night, single or double occupancy. In order to reserve your room, your registration must be processed with an approved payment. Once your application has been processed, a confirmation letter will be emailed to you containing a code with which to reserve your hotel room at the special RBMA rate. This special rate is offered until Feb. 21, based on availability.

RBMA U is seeking a faculty member for an Introduction to Information Management course
RBMA
RBMA is seeking a qualified and experienced radiology business professional to teach the introductory course in Information Management, one of the domains in RBMA's Common Body of Knowledge. The selected instructor will be provided with a course development plan including learning objectives from which to create the course. The instructor will have access to various resources to produce the presentation as well as one-on-one mentoring or assistance from a member of the RBMA U Committee.

Yet that's the scenario in which many patients find themselves. Patients can avoid some of those headaches and minimize the risk they'll need to file for bankruptcy protection. AMA seeks to stop ICD-10, cites soaring costs

The American Medical Association released a study it sponsored showing that projected physicians' implementation costs for the federally mandated ICD-10 medical coding set will be as much as three times higher than initial estimates. Couple with the release of the study, AMA President Ardis Dee Hoven, MD, released a copy of the letter she sent to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius asking her to "strongly" reconsider the ICD-10 mandate, which takes effect Oct. 1.

RIS/PACS databases best for capturing CT dose data

Capturing data on computed tomography radiation doses from RIS/PACS databases was more accurate and cost effective than self-reported survey data, according to the results of a single-center study published in the European Journal of Radiology. Radiation dose information is currently captured using self-reported surveys, which have inherent bias because they do not capture a random sample of data and rely on participation by providers.

EHR alerts boost participation in AAA screening

Many men who are at risk for an abdominal aortic aneurysm unfortunately don't get screened for the often deadly condition. But Kaiser Permanente in California has found a way to reach more of them by integrating alerts for screening into its electronic health record software. The screening program alerts providers when at-risk patients should receive an aortic ultrasound scan for AAA screening.
