DataMAXX compensation module now open
RBMA
DataMAXX, RBMA's Web-based financial and operational performance benchmarking resource, is now collecting compensation and benefits data for 66 radiology specific positions.

The compensation module replaces and expands upon the RBMA Managers Compensation Survey. It collects data and reports statistics on average annual salary/wages, benefits cost, bonus and other compensation, total cash compensation and total compensation for positions from that survey as well as front and back office, clinical support, non-physician clinical and physician positions. The compensation module also includes statistics on vacation, sick leave, PTO, continuing education and other days off earned annually for seven position classifications.

Get ready for the redesigned Fall Educational Conference!
RBMA
Education remains one of our greatest strengths and our strategic direction continues to support that. Education has been a fundamental building block for RBMA since its inception, and we are committed to it. Our goal is to ensure we are offering the right education to the right people at the right time.

In order to serve our members better and provide the kind of education that has been requested we took a look at our fall conference and made the following changes. Here is what you can expect Oct. 19-21, 2014, at the Westin Seattle in Seattle, Wash.
  • The conference will begin on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at 1 p.m. and end on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014.
  • The New Member/First Time Attendee Reception will be held in the Exhibit Hall from 4-5 p.m. followed by the Grand Opening of the Exhibit Hall from 5-6:30 p.m., allowing more time to network on Sunday evening.
  • Longer sessions where attendee can dive deep into the subject matter will be available in addition to the usual one-hour sessions.
  • Education will be segmented into basic, intermediate and advanced levels.
  • The Exhibit Hall will only be open for an extended time period over lunch on Monday and Tuesday so that attendees have time to really investigate industry products and services as well as attend brief product education sessions in the new Product Showcase Theater.

CMS proposes x-ray, rad therapy policy changes

The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has included changes to some radiation therapy and x-ray services policies as part of its July 3 proposed rule for the 2015 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. Part of the proposal seeks to ensure that infrastructure costs associated with medical equipment are accounted for in the same way across the PFS, according to CMS.

Shortly after the new business rules governing electronic funds transfer transactions went into effect on Jan. 1, Robert Tennant, MGMA senior policy advisor, began to ask for a show of hands when he spoke to physician groups to get a sense of how many physicians were receiving EFT payment via virtual credit card. Annual Medicare mammography spending jumped 50 percent with newer tech

While Medicare's mammography costs increased nearly 50 percent in the early 2000s, the number of women screened and detection rates for early-stage disease remained stable. However, the spike in costs — a $300 million increase in annual spending from 2001 to 2009 — did coincide with many providers' transition from plain-film to digital mammography.
