RBMA    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Many in healthcare erroneously believe that the move to ICD-10-CM involves only the coding and IT functions. To the contrary, ICD-10 will affect multiple areas of radiology providers' operations, which translates to an enormous amount of preparatory work that must be completed before the compliance deadline. Make sure your facility is not caught off guard. This MedLearn webcast seminar, second in a series, Preparing Radiology for ICD-10-CM: Establishing Internal Processes & Roles will be presented July 19. There is still time to register!

RBMA    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
As an association, RBMA strives to provide members with resources that meet their business needs and enhance their professional growth. Once a year, we reach out to our members and ask them how we are doing. With your feedback we can measure members' satisfaction with our services, identify opportunities for additional member benefits and learn about the business environment members may face in the future. Completing the evaluation is easy and will take approximately 15 minutes.

Members who complete the evaluation will be entered into a drawing to win a free RBMA conference registration! The deadline for completion is July 31.

If you have not received your invitation and would like to participate in the Annual Members' Assessment, please email cynthia.vervena@rbma.org to request a survey link.

CMS proposes paying non-docs who order portable X-rays, too
DOTmed.com    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Although the proposed 2013 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule includes cuts to imaging and radiation therapy services, it does expand one aspect of imaging: some non-physician providers might now get paid for ordering portable X-rays. Medicare regulations established in the late 1960s require the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to only reimburse portable X-rays — X-rays taken in someone's home, hospice or group living situation using a mobile system — ordered by a medical doctor or a doctor of osteopathy. Aunt Minnie (registration required)    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Radiology administrators are confident that in the coming months their facilities will grow and operating and staff costs will remain constant. Clarity and confidence
Imaging Economics    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Clinical benefits, added diagnostic assurance, and patient requests for the technology are keeping CAD for mammography in demand. The primary benefit of computer-aided detection for breast imaging, according to Matthew Gromet, JD, MD, section chief of breast imaging at Charlotte Radiology, is its ability to assist the radiologist in avoiding oversight of a significant lesion. He mentions, for example, a subtle abnormality that a radiologist may overlook. More

Just in case you’ve been blissfully (or willfully) ignorant of the latest developments on the national healthcare front, the Supreme Court recently ruled that a centerpiece of ACA/Obamacare — the individual mandate that all citizens buy health insurance — is constitutional. This aspect of the law was (and is) troubling to a lot of people, as it threatens to establish a new legal precedent that the government can tell you what goods and services you must buy. More
