Why one practice is exploring the Meaningful Use EHR program, Part 1
Diagnostic Imaging (blog) (registration required)    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Dr. Richard Woodcock's practice is exploring how radiologists may benefit from the Electronic Health Record incentive program. Their interest is sparked by the fact that for all physicians, CMS will pay cash incentives to eligible health care professionals who make "meaningful use" of certified EHRs. IOM to FDA: Scrap 510(k), start fresh
Health Imaging & IT    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The Institute of Medicine recommended the FDA scrap its 35-year-old 510(k) medical device clearance process and start anew, according to the findings of a new evaluation, which chided the process as "flawed, based on its legislative foundation." Despite a growing number of FDA efforts at reforming the 510(k) process in past months, the committee claimed continuing to invest in it is not "a wise use of the FDA's resources," but refused to make specific reform recommendations. Interactive pen displays accelerate patient registration
Aunt Minnie (registration required)    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article

One year later, this decision has paid off handsomely. The patients of Valley Regional Imaging in Fayetteville, N.C., won't find ballpoint pens and paper forms at this facility.
