RBMA member benefit: New Missouri chapter
RBMA
RBMA is pleased to announce a new chapter has been added to our growing chapter program! The Missouri Chapter, serving the great "Show-Me" state, is now active and anxious to provide meaningful education and networking opportunities to its members!

Visit www.rbma.org/missouri for more information.

Participating with a local chapter is a big value-add to your RBMA membership. Chapters hold their own meetings in addition to national RBMA in an effort to reach out and connect radiology professionals in the same geographic vicinity. Chapter meetings focus on local radiology business concerns.

Visit our website for a list of current RBMA chapters to find a chapter in your area.

If a chapter does not exist in your area, you may want to consider starting a chapter. If you are interested in starting a chapter, contact Jessica Struve, RBMA membership manager, at 703.621.3359 or email jessica.struve@rbma.org.

The deadline to submit your call for value case study extended to Friday, Aug. 14

Consistent with RBMA's motto of "Progress Through Sharing," the Radiology Integration Models Task Force is seeking case studies, either completed or in process, on how radiology practices are adding value to the health care enterprise.

Members whose case studies are selected by the judging committee for their relevance and noteworthiness will be invited to present during the Value Innovation Lab. Each presenter will receive a $100 gift card. There will be time allocated at the end of the roundtable for networking and interacting with applicants.

Conference Concierge program assists new members and first-time attendees to RBMA conferences
RBMA
A Conference Concierge (CC) is a veteran conference attendee who is matched with a new member or first time conference attendee to assist with conference questions, networking, session selection, or any other questions one might have about an RBMA conference.

Through the program, created by the RBMA Membership Committee, Conference Concierges will be matched up with new members or first-time attendees who have requested a CC prior to the RBMA conference (both the Radiology Summit and the Fall Educational Conference). The pairing will meet in person at the New Member Reception, held on the opening day of the conference, prior to the Grand Opening festivities.

To volunteer as a Conference Concierge for the 2015 Fall Educational Conference or to request to be paired with a concierge, please select the appropriate options in the "Special Programs" section when registering. If you've already registered and did not include those options as part of your registration or if you are an exhibitor representative, please email us at membership@rbma.org to be included in the program.

All veteran conference attendees, including exhibitors, are encouraged to volunteer as a concierge.

DataMAXX — Did you know? Excel® Compensation file calculates your indicator values
RBMA
The newest and easiest way to submit compensation data, the Excel questionnaire file includes a tab that calculates your practice's average values by position for annual salary/wages, benefits cost, bonus and other compensation, total cash compensation, and total compensation. The survey also collects data on annual days of leave earned by type of leave and position classification. You will be able to compare your values with statistics calculated for all respondents in the official report. Your values also will be provided automatically in reports you run through a DataMAXX practice subscription.

RBMA is accepting 2014 compensation data from practices and management services organizations through Aug. 21. Click here for details and files.

Invite a member of Congress to your practice in August
RBMA
August is here, which means members of Congress will be back in their congressional districts for constituent meetings.

Since only 30 of the 535 members of Congress have health care backgrounds, and since more than 60 percent of Congress is new since 2010, this is a great time to educate members of Congress on the role radiology plays in the delivery of quality health care to patients.

Having a member of Congress tour your facility takes just 45 minutes. The investment in time to host a visit is invaluable, as oftentimes the radiologists and business managers of the group will serve as the member of Congress' main resource on any or all health care issues.

If interested, contact Ted Burnes with the ACR at tburnes@acr.org. He can provide talking points, logistics and get the ball rolling with the member of Congress' scheduling staff.

CMS forecasts 'modest' growth in health care spending
Aunt Minnie (registration required)
The U.S. will see a "modest" increase in health care spending through 2024, but the projected 5.8 percent annual rate of growth is much lower than the rapid pace seen prior to 2008, according to a new report from the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Increased health care expenditures will be driven by economic growth following the recession, rising insurance premiums, and higher cost-sharing in employer-sponsored health insurance plans.

Assessing the Affordable Care Act
Health Imaging
Talk to one person and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will be described as the most significant improvement to U.S. health care in decades. Talk to another and you may hear about how it's a disaster for the country. Since the ACA was passed in 2010, straight talk on the law has been hard to come by. Predictions about the ACA's ability to save or destroy the U.S. have been based more often on politics than honest statistics.
