HealthLeaders Media
California is one of four states that received a federal waiver to use a "crosswalk" coding translation system for Medi-Cal claims for the Oct. 1 transition to ICD-10 coding. Do Medicare quality measures miss the mark in radiology?
Aunt Minnie (registration required)
Tracking physician performance in an effort to improve health care quality and patient outcomes is here to stay. But do Medicare quality measures accurately track radiologist performance? The trend is under a new spotlight now, as Congress zeroes in on the competitive and cost impact of proposed deals that would collapse the health-insurance industry's top five players into just three massive companies, each with more than $100 billion in annual revenue.

EHR integration of radiology alerts speeds up — but doesn't significantly change rate of — follow-ups
Health Imaging
Integrating nonurgent but clinically significant radiology alerts into the EHR offers a workable way to manage follow-up patient care — and the integration doesn't impede closed-loop communication between radiologists and referring physicians. That's the main takeaway from a study at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, the results of which are running in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association.
