The RBMA Nominating Committee is currently seeking candidates for open RBMA Board of Directors positions for 2012-2013. Candidates are individuals who have a vision for RBMA and the leadership skills to help implement RBMA's strategic plan. RBMA seeks individuals who are interested in participating in the leadership of the Association and who are willing to help define RBMA's future.

To learn more about serving on the RBMA Board of Directors, please consult RBMA's Call for Candidates packet. The Best Practices in Radiology Quality and Economics Awards honor the best radiology practices, groups or departments for their work in using imaging in a meaningful way to improve quality of care and patient outcomes, increase efficiency across the department or facility, reduce costs and drive lasting economic benefits.

An expert panel of radiology administrators and business managers from AHRA and RBMA and editors from Health Imaging will choose up to five winners, who will receive a cash award of $1,000 and be featured in an upcoming issue of Health Imaging. Winners will be honored at a joint AHRA-RBMA event at the RSNA annual meeting in November in Chicago. The deadline for nominations is Nov. 15.

Providers can soon add the state-administered Medicaid RAC program to their list of potential auditors. On Sept. 16, CMS published the Final Rule for the Medicaid Recovery Audit Program in the Federal Register. The regulations promulgated by the Final Rule take effect on Jan. 1. Like the Medicare RAC program, the Medicaid RAC program will identify overpayments and underpayments and recoup identified overpayments from providers. More

The Office of General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board recently issued a sprawling report on the interaction of employee social media activity and the National Labor Relations Act. The report provides some useful guidance for employers grappling with employee social media activity, an issue with implications that range from the legal (for example, employee disclosure of confidential information, including Protected Health Information under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) to the personal (defamatory statements about business owners and supervisors).
