Annual employee training is easy with the RBMA compliance training modules
RBMA
Radiology practices and all covered entities whose employees work with patients' protected health information are required by law to provide each staff member with one hour of annual training.

RBMA has an easy solution for training your employees and documenting compliance with this law. Three 20-minute online modules, presented by Lori Shore, BS, CPC, RCC, followed by testing on the required information, allow your staff to obtain the necessary training at a convenient time, without interruption of normal workflow or the expense of holding an all employee training session. After successful completion of the testing, staff members who receive a passing grade of 80 percent will receive a certificate of completion.

Patient portals increase access and reduce misinformation

Already gaining popularity in health systems nationwide, patient portals could now play a more significant role in radiology by automatically structuring and combining radiology reports with related imaging studies. This integration would give patients greater access to helpful information about their health status. In a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, UCLA developed a web-based patient portal for individuals with brain cancer.

Lawmakers want to stop fee-for-service Medicare payments

The chairmen of the U.S. House Ways and Means and the Senate Finance committees want to phase out the way Medicare pays doctors for their services. They're proposing a gradual change to a new system along with a pay freeze and incentives to give up fee-for-service billing. "Enough with the quick fixes. Our proposal is for a new physician payment system that rewards value over volume," Senator Max Baucus of Montana said.
