ASSOCIATION NEWS

Member benefit: Volunteering
RBMA
Volunteering is an excellent way to increase your participation and knowledge of your membership association. It is also a great way to give back to an organization that was instrumental in building your career and achieving personal growth.

Our yearly Call for Volunteers has opened! RBMA is soliciting volunteers to serve on a variety of committees and subcommittees. Much of the work of RBMA is carried out by RBMA member volunteers, supported by RBMA staff.

RBMA has 14 committees and subcommittees that are sure to capture one or more of your interests. Volunteering on multiple committees is permitted. Terms are for one year and can be renewed up to a total of three years. Committees typically meet via conference call or in person at either RBMA's Radiology Summit or Fall Educational Conference, or both! Committee members do not receive travel reimbursements.

Visit www.rbma.org/volunteer for more information on RBMA committees and to complete an application. If appointed, your service will begin in June 2015.

Volunteer submissions will be accepted until Friday, Feb. 27.

Give back and be an integral part of a team that depends on member volunteers to guide and propel the organization forward!

New Assets Designed to Speed You Up Just Slowing You Down?
ASPYRA, LLC
Struggles to climb the learning curve can cost more than training. Imagine correcting each exam record for a patient when you could have changed it in one place and have it corrected on all the records if you just knew where to go. Every business has personnel, equipment, and system changes over time. Such "turnover" often leaves you with limited personnel who know how to make the most effective use of your resources. How do you keep productivity high and expenses low? Look for training options such as Web based training, webinars, on-site training, and full classes.

Accountable care organizations: Like HMOs, but different
The New York Times
In pursuit of greater efficiency in the United States health system, public programs and private insurers have begun to pay some hospitals and physicians differently. These new payment models take many forms, but they all impose greater responsibility for cost control and quality improvement on providers and bear some resemblance to failed healthcare financing arrangements from the 1990s.

Care coordination barely improved by docs' use of EHR, health IT
Imaging Biz
If harmonizing the work of two or more doctors treating the same patient is a key reason for computerizing healthcare, then health information technology is singing somewhat off key. That's one way to sum up a new study whose authors looked at EHR usage and electronic information sharing by more than 4,500 U.S. physicians who participated in the 2012 National Electronic Health Records Survey.
