Avro Lancaster KB882; coming in from the cold?
Warbirds News
Last year, there was a brief stir concerning the plight of a rare combat veteran Avro Lancaster on outdoor display at Madawaska Municipal Airport in the city of Edmunston, NB. The city has owned Lancaster Mk.10P KB882 since her RCAF retirement in 1964. RCAF commander to retire in military shake-up
Metro News
A number of changes are in the works for military brass, including the retirement of the head of the air force and the promotion of the first women to run the personnel branch. The country's top military commander, Gen. Tom Lawson, has announced a series of promotions and new postings, many of which take effect throughout the coming months. The pair split their time between Italy and Argentina — his wife's home country — and made regular visits to Canada to visit his children until last summer when Holt developed a sore back.

RCAF P-51 Mustang alive and well in Palm Springs
Ottawa Citizen
Last year, I visited the Palm Springs Air Museum in Palm Springs, CA. They have quite a collection of aircraft — well worth the visit. Warbird News is now reporting the museum has just celebrated the return of its P-51D Mustang, 44-74908. It has returned after restoration work. The Mustang rolled off the production line on July 8, 1945; too late to see combat in the Second World War, Warbird News writes.
