Military bands meet in the middle — in Moose Jaw

The Pipes and Drums of the Royal Canadian Air Force and Artillery are meeting in the middle with two performances for Moose Jaw. "We're all very excited, and we're excited to get together and play some music," said Sgt. Katherine Buckland, a spokesperson for the Royal Canadian Artillery band, which is based in Edmonton, Alta.

RCAF training on a simulated plane crash at Chilliwack airport

Members of Royal Canadian Air Force's (RCAF) 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron engaged in search-and-rescue training exercises in the Chilliwack area. The three days of training is the squadron's annual major search and rescue exercise (SAREX). Search-and-rescue technicians (SARTechs) conducted a simulated plane crash at Chilliwack airport where they tended to two injured victims.

Final upgraded CF-18 delivered

The fighter force has achieved another significant milestone with the delivery of the final ALR-67 (V3) modified CF-188 Hornet from Boeing International. The milestone was marked at a ceremony held at 4 Wing Cold Lake, Alta. As part of the CF-188 defensive electronic warfare suite project, the objective of the ALR-67 (V3) modification sub-project was to upgrade the CF-188 Electronic Warfare self-protection equipment to improve the CF-188 survivability in a modern theatre of operation against both air-to-air and air-to-ground threats.

RCAF training flight ends with ejection
Flying
Air Force (RCAF) instructor pilot and student now have an uneven number of takeoffs and landings in their logbooks. Both qualified for membership in the Caterpillar Club by ejecting from their Beechcraft CT-156 Harvard II trainer during a routine training mission.

Magellan Aerospace highlights F-35 achievement

Magellan Aerospace Corporation announced that the first Magellan-manufactured horizontal tail assembly installed on an F-35A Lightning II aircraft was successfully flown for the first time. The Magellan tail assembly flew on aircraft AF-46, an F-35A Conventional Take Off and Landing (CTOL) variant, from Lockheed Martin’s final assembly line in Fort Worth, TX. The first flight of this Canadian-manufactured tail assembly marks an important milestone for Magellan as a major Canadian supplier to the international F-35 program.

Burma reunion update

As you know, reservations have been made on base in BB79 and BB65 using a financial coding to hold the rooms. We have also made an arrangement with a local hotel in case the on base accommodation does not work for some individuals.

BB79 There are 60 rooms on hold: Single occupancy rooms - $42 per night Double occupancy rooms (only 8 of these rooms) - $47.25 per night Handicap room double occupancy (only 2 of these rooms) - $47.25 per night (for 2 people)

BB65 There are 20 rooms on hold: Double occupancy rooms - $42 per night double occupancy, $36.75 per night single occupancy
