A 415 (Long Range Patrol Force Development) Squadron crew from 14 Wing Greenwood, Nova Scotia, deployed to Andoya, Norway, from June 19 to 25 to participate in a Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) Symposium hosted by 333 Squadron, Royal Norwegian Air Force, as part of its 75th anniversary celebrations.
The symposium brought together crews from 21F Squadron, French Air Force; VP-16 United States Navy, 333 Squadron; and 415 Squadron to discuss issues relevant to the Maritime Patrol Aircraft community, with each nation providing an update on fleet capabilities and current operations.

A Liberal MP says it's time that Canada looked at joining the United States on ballistic missile defence against North Korea's threat to launch inter-continental weapons.
MP Mark Gerretsen (Kingston and the Islands) said that, with the evolving threat from North Korea, which launched tests of inter-continental missiles with greater range and boasted of new nuclear capabilities, it may be time to break from what has been Liberal, and Canadian government, policy since 2005.

Four Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) CF-18 Hornet fighter jets have arrived in Romania for a four-month deployment under NATO's enhanced Air Policing mission.
The Canadian aircraft and about 135 supporting Canadian Armed Forces personnel will be based at the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, near Romania's second largest city of Constanta on the Black Sea coast.

For the third time in its history the Royal Canadian Air Force will receive new colours on Sept. 1, a "once-in-a-generation event" the RCAF plans to celebrate on land and in the air.
The colours, or flags, reflect the RCAF's "loyalty and fealty" to the Queen and Canada, said Lt. Col Holly Apostoliuk, the air force's director of public relations.

The Canadian military is looking for ways to prevent its satellites from being shot down or disabled, but is faced with an international legal vacuum that makes it tough to know how far the country can go to protect its property, government documents show.
The Liberal government's recent defence policy review committed the country to "the peaceful use of space," but also acknowledges government satellites, both defence and civilian, have become "potential targets."

A Commons committee recently held a special meeting in Ottawa looking for answers on what sort of military preparations have been made by the Trudeau government in the event the crisis over missiles and nuclear testing by the regime of Kim Jong-un spirals out of control.

RADA Electronic Industries recently announced an order from the U.S. military for its Multi-Mission Hemispheric Radar systems.
The more than $8 million order will be used by a "key U.S. military force" for air surveillance with "an emphasis on counter-UAS with the most advanced on-the-move capabilities," RADA said in a press release.

Colonel Hadfield was the first Canadian to walk in space. A Royal Military College graduate, an engineer, and former Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) fighter pilot, Colonel Hadfield has flown two space shuttle missions and served as Commander of the International Space Station.
