CFB Petawawa to get name change in latest government rebranding

Canadian Forces Base Petawawa will soon be no more. The military installation in the Ottawa Valley is in line for a name change as part of the Conservative government's rebranding of the military. It will be called 4th Canadian Division Support Base Petawawa, although that new name has yet to be officially announced and a date for the renaming is still undecided, say army officers.

The Yorkton Municipal Airport hosted an event this weekend to provide visitors the opportunity to learn the history of their local airport, as well as a chance to see several vintage planes on display. One of the highlights of the weekend event was the display and demonstration of the B17 bomber plane.

Boeing demonstrates advanced super hornet

Boeing reported that during three weeks of testing in August, it successfully demonstrated that its F/A-18 Advanced Super Hornet — fitted with new conformal fuel tanks (CFT) and an enclosed weapons pod (EWP) — will be able to outperform perceived threats well beyond 2030 in the anti-access, aerial denial environment. The advancement in capability is thanks to a suite of low-cost modifications, including enhanced stealth capabilities.

Veterans Day to honour those who fought for peace

The message for this year's Veterans Day ceremony at Glenwood Cemetery will be "Honouring Those Who Fought For Peace". Glenwood Cemetery, in partnership with Branch 78 The Royal Canadian Legion, 415 Wing Royal Canadian Air Force Association and 851 Prince Edward Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron will host the annual Veterans’ Day at Glenwood Cemetery on Sept. 21.

Bomber Command veterans reunited after 68 years

The last time Nathan Isaacs and John Mulholland saw each other, they were dropping mines out of a plane into the waters off Heligoland, an island northwest of Germany. It was 1945. The war was nearing its close and the pair flew their 35th and final mission together, with Isaacs navigating and Mulholland piloting the craft. Shortly afterward they would part ways as their respective tours of duty ended.

Today St. Hubert has so much less activity that we hold our reunion at RCAF Base Trenton.
